I’m currently in the last throws of finishing a paper that I am giving at a conference later this month, so here are some more photos to share with you. My wonderful museum-y birthday last Friday was followed by an equally wonderful birthday party at the weekend. In true expat style, we had a very British afternoon tea :-)

This amazing berry cheesecake is the husband’s signature party piece. You’ll be able to make one yourself soon, as he has promised to guest blog the recipe!

No British afternoon tea would be complete without some cucumber sandwiches.

Finally, an occasion to get out my grandmother’s tea seat. It’s a design from Sweden. I love how you can mix and match the cups and saucers.

First course: Cucumber sandwiches & crisps, a cup of Earl Grey tea, and a glass of champagne

Second course: Home baked scones with clotted cream and jam.
HUGE thank you to my wonderful friend Hie-suk for managing to track down clotted cream in Berlin. That was the best surprise! Not going to share the recipe for scones I think, as they didn’t come out as fluffy as I wanted. It was our second failed attempt with a second recipe at fluffy gluten free scones, so maybe something to do with the flour.

Third course: A slab of cheesecake and a gin & tonic. Cheers!
